Description: Though largely eclipsed in history by the kingdoms, the united city-states of the Gaya produced treasures no less important or spectacular than those of their larger contemporaries. A perfect example of the exquisite workmanship is this shimmering gold crown. The closest comparable is a nearly identical gold Gaya crown in the collection of the National Museum of Korea. Though several crowns of gilded-bronze or gilded-copper are known, our research has thus far found reference to only two other gold Gaya crowns, making this artifact an extremely rare find.
